We offer Enrichment Classes for children 6 months through adults. Parent and child classes are offered for 6 months through 3 years. Preschool and grade school children can register for games classes, general sports classes, specific sport classes or combination sports and games classes. Golf, Karate, Tennis and Yoga are also offered and taught by professionals in their field. Most classes are led by full time JCC Sports & Recreation staff. Basketball Leagues
In conjunction with Sports Universe we offer the JCC/Sports Universe Slam Dunk League. This is an in house league for children in grades K-4. The league will run December through March. Instructional clinics focused on specific basketball skills will be offered prior to the start of the league. For those in grades 5-12, we offer a traveling Basketball League. Tryouts are typically held in October and League games normally begin in December. Adult Basketball leagues run year round. Our options include either 18+ Leagues or 35+ Temple leagues. Players can sign up as a team or as an individual and be placed on a team.
Times are reserved throughout the week for adult, teen and family recreation. Our Recreation Programs are no fee and no advance registration required (except adult table tennis). They include: badminton, obstacle course, pickleball, soccer, table tennis, volleyball, and more. Check the Margulis gym schedule for a complete listing and days and times offered
We offer private and semi private instruction for children, teens, and adults looking to improve their skills in basketball, golf, and tennis.
We participate in the regional Junior Maccabi Games. This program is a one day event taking place on a Sunday in May. Jewish athletes ages 10-12 compete in a variety of sports including baseball, basketball, soccer, swimming, and tennis. Tryouts take place beginning in January.
MORE INFORMATION
Maccabi is a one week Olympic style athletic competition for Jewish teens ages 13-16. Tryouts take place beginning in January. Athletes that make one of our JCC teams travel with us one week in August. This is an international competition and different communities throughout the country host each year.
MORE INFORMATION
We have two full size racquetball courts that are used for both matches between members as well as league play. Leagues are offered on an ongoing basis throughout the year.

The water’s unique properties allow the pool to provide an environment for people of all abilities. Buoyancy creates a reduced impact exercise alternative that is easy on the joints, while the water’s resistance challenges the muscles. Water lends itself to a well-balanced workout that improves all major components of physical fitness -- aerobic training, muscular strength and endurance, flexibility and body composition.
Water aerobics is often considered a low-intensity workout program appropriate only for pregnant women or the elderly. However, water aerobics actually offers multiple benefits for any fitness level. Water aerobics classes come in a variety of formats.
Exercising in water makes you feel about 90 percent lighter, reports the American Council on Exercise. When you jump or run in the water, your body does not experience the same impact that these moves cause on land. This makes water aerobics an ideal activity for those with arthritis, back problems, foot or leg injuries, and knee conditions. Pregnant women and the obese also benefit from the reduced impact.
If you find other group exercise classes intimidating because of complex choreography or windowed studios, the pool offers some discretion. Most moves are performed underwater so only you know if you missed a step.
Expect to burn between 400 and 500 calories per hour in a water aerobics class. The actual amount you burn will depend on your size, the intensity of your movements, as well as water temperature and depth. In general, faster movements incorporating the upper and lower body in deep water elicit the greatest calorie burn.
When exercising in water, you work against 12 times the resistance of air. Simply kicking and cupping the water helps contribute to muscle development, which translates into a higher metabolism and healthier body.
