Enrichment Classes

We offer Enrichment Classes for children 6 months through adults. Parent and child classes are offered for 6 months through 3 years. Preschool and grade school children can register for games classes, general sports classes, specific sport classes or combination sports and games classes. Golf, Karate, Tennis and Yoga are also offered and taught by professionals in their field. Most classes are led by full time JCC Sports & Recreation professionals.

The JCC and Sports Universe have teamed up to offer The Slam Dunk League.  This is a co-ed in house league for children in grades K thru 4.  The league runs December through March.  For boys and girls in grades 5 thru 12 traveling basketball leagues are offered.  For the winter season tryouts are typically held in October and league games normally begin in December.  For the summer, spring and fall season teams are put togteher based on interest.  Adult Basketball leagues run year round.  Our options include either 18+ Leagues or 35+ Temple leagues.  Players can sign up as a team or as an individual and be placed on a team.

Recreation Programs

Times are reserved throughout the week for adult, teen and family recreation. Our Recreation Programs are no fee and no advance registration required (except adult table tennis). They include: badminton, obstacle course, pickleball, soccer, table tennis, volleyball, and more. Check the Margulis gym schedule for a complete listing and days and times offered

Sports Specific Training

We offer private and semi private instruction for children, teens, and adults looking to improve their skills in basketball, golf, and tennis.

Junior Maccabi Program

We participate in the regional Junior Maccabi Games. This program is a one day event taking place on a Sunday in May. Jewish athletes ages 10-12 compete in a variety of sports including baseball, basketball, soccer, swimming, and tennis. Tryouts take place beginning in January.

JCC Maccabi Games

Maccabi is a one week Olympic style athletic competition for Jewish teens ages 13-16. Tryouts take place beginning in January. Athletes that make one of our JCC teams travel with us one week in August. This is an international competition and different communities throughout the country host each year.

We have two full size racquetball courts that are used for both matches between members as well as league play.  Leagues are offered on an ongoing basis throughout the year.

Birthday Parties

Birthday parties for children ages 3 and up are offered. Our Gym Jam Party for ages 3 and 4 features a moon bounce and age appropriate activities. Sports and/or games parties are offered for children ages 5 and older. Our parties feature one hour in the gym with JCC staff leading the activities and one hour in a special room for you and your guests to celebrate.

The Invisible Wall,

by Harry Bernstein

Thursday, March 13, 7:30 PM

A gripping coming-of-age memoir of Bernstein's childhood in a poverty-stricken and religiously divided mill town in northern England before and during World War I. Home to both Christian and Jewish families, the street where Bernstein grew up was defined by the strict social and vocational segregation of the two religious groups. Bernstein deftly narrates the tale of his sister's forbidden love for a Christian boy from the other side of the street. From the perspective of his boyhood self, Bernstein offers a glimpse into a family riven by poverty, sibling jealousies, and an abusive, alcoholic father, yet held together tenaciously by a caring mother. In the tradition of Frank McCourt's Angela's Ashes. (Library Journal Review)
