It's Never Too Late: Athlete Fairbairn Powers, 72, Presents "Coaching and Caring" Award To JCC MetroWest Aquatics Instructor Barbara Anstadt

Athlete Fairbairn Powers presents JCC MetroWest Aquatics Instructor Barbara Anstadt with a "Superb Coaching and Caring for All Ages Award." Fairbairn, who is 72 years old, credits Barbara and her training at JCC MetroWest with setting her on a path that led to a #1 USA National Ranking (age group 70-74) in Aqua Bike. Since 2009, Fairbairn has participated in 8 Triathlons and 3 Aquabikes. She qualified for the USA Triathlon Team World Competitions for her age group in Beijing 2011 and Auckland 2012.

Fairbairn, who is an Episcopal priest, also highlighted her work with Mel Fink in the JCC Masters Swim Program as well as Sharon Tobey in the Fitness Center. "It was a JCC wide effort to get me where I am today. I want to encourage others that it is never too late to learn something new or to make a positive change," she said.
